UFO and UAP sighting report template
What to record when something unusual appears in the sky, from direction and movement to aircraft checks, satellites, weather, and witness notes.
A UAP report is most useful when it captures the sky conditions as well as the object. Direction, elevation, movement, duration, and weather often matter more than a dramatic label.
Write the report as soon as possible. Memory fills gaps quickly, especially when several people discuss what they think they saw.
Core details to capture
Record date, exact or approximate time, town or region, direction faced, object colour, shape, brightness, speed, sound, and whether it changed direction or altitude.
If filming, say out loud what direction you are facing and whether the camera is zoomed. A short spoken note can save a lot of confusion later.
Checks before posting
Check aircraft routes, satellite passes, meteor activity, drones, Chinese lanterns, skydivers, fireworks, and reflections through windows or car glass.
If you cannot check everything, say what you did check. A partial control list is still better than presenting the sighting as solved or impossible.
How to ask for help
Post the clearest clip or image, the unedited original if safe to share, and the report details. Ask members to help identify possibilities rather than confirm a conclusion.
Approximate public locations are fine. Do not reveal your home address, private property, or the identity of witnesses who have not consented.
