History & haunting lore

Farmers and guerrillas dug kitchens, hospitals, and trap-lined corridors beneath rubber plantations, surviving B-52 strikes and napalm above. American "tunnel rats" who descended with pistols and flashlights faced booby traps, bats, and total darkness.

Tourist tunnels are widened and lit, yet even the short demo section triggers panic in some visitors. Guides who grew up nearby treat the earth as sacred, and the booby-trap displays remind everyone that the underground was a killing ground, not an adventure park.

Current site status

Open daily with Ben Dinh and Ben Duoc sites offering different experiences; visitors with claustrophobia or mobility limits should skip the crawl tunnels.
