RMS Queen Mary

The RMS Queen Mary is a retired British ocean liner permanently moored at Long Beach, California. Built on the Clyde and entering transatlantic service for Cunard in 1936, she was among the fastest and most celebrated liners of her era. During the Second World War she was converted into a troopship, nicknamed the "Grey Ghost", carrying vast numbers of servicemen across the Atlantic. Retired in 1967, she was brought to Long Beach and reopened as a hotel, event venue and museum attraction.

With her long service history, wartime role and decades as a public attraction, the Queen Mary has become one of the most storied "haunted" ships in the world. Guests and staff report a range of phenomena, often linked in retellings to specific spaces such as the first-class swimming pool, particular staterooms and the engine areas.
